Nanminda Co-Operative Rural Bank is one of the leading Primary Service Co-operative Banks in the state,with a commendable history of growth extending over 75years as a true symbolof co-operation, commitment to serve the society and has since then evolved to its present stature of a leading service co-operative bank. As stated earlier, the bank was established in 1946 as a consumer co-operative society and later in 1955, was converted as a Co-operative Rural Bank with a small initial capital and with limited members Over the years, Indian co-operative movement acquired a great deal of progress with the support of public and Kerala has been in the forefront of Co-operative endeavours, which has been briefly explained at the commencement of this Chapter. In 1977, the Government of Kerala decided to upgrade 30 co- operative banks as Farmers Service Co-operative Bank and as a consequence of the decision; a number of co-operative establishments were upgraded as a Service Co-operative Bank. NCRB also went through this developmental transformation. The area of operation of the bank covers Nanminda, Narikkuni, Kakkur Panchayat and Eravannur Amsom of Madavoor Panchayat of Kozhikode district.
